PBO Federation Training Nakuru June 2025

CESRA Partners with National PBO Federation to Empower Over 100 Organizations in South Rift

On 27th June 2025, the Centre for Social Responsibility and Accountability (CESRA) proudly took part in a landmark event hosted in Nakuru, bringing together more than 100 Public Benefit Organizations (PBOs) from across the South Rift region. The training and consultation forum, convened by the National Federation of PBOs, focused on educating participants about the transition from NGO to PBO frameworks under the new legal landscape.

The gathering was not only an informative session but also a powerful demonstration of unity among grassroots and national organizations working to improve lives in communities across Kenya. CESRA was honored to sponsor part of the training, reaffirming its commitment to building the capacity of local actors who are the true drivers of change at the grassroots level.

During the vibrant Question & Answer sessions, participants engaged directly with federation leaders and legal experts to better understand the implications of the PBO Act, compliance requirements, and the benefits of formal registration. These discussions underscored the urgent need for continued collaboration and support to ensure organizations remain impactful, accountable, and legally compliant.

In an official appreciation message, Mr. Stephen K. Cheboi, Chairman of the National Federation of PBOs, extended heartfelt thanks to the South Rift regional team and participating organizations, saying:

“On behalf of the National Office, I wish to sincerely thank you for hosting an important PBO Members consultation meeting held on Friday 27th June 2025 in Nakuru. We are grateful and indeed looking forward to many more engagements with members and other stakeholders in the region. We truly appreciate your hard work and what each member organization is doing to make a difference in the lives of our people.”

CESRA continues to champion partnerships that strengthen the capacity of grassroots charities and civil society actors. Through its model of community engagement, training, and grant facilitation, CESRA believes that when local organizations thrive, communities flourish.

We look forward to future collaborations that expand impact and deepen the roots of accountability, sustainability, and service in every region of Kenya.
